1. What is Carnovas®?
Carnovas® (2.5mg Tab, 5 mg Tab, 10 g Tab) is an antihypertensive consisting Nebivolol a third generation beta blocker.

2. How Carnovas® works in our body?
Carnovas or Nebivolol works at the heart by blocking the β1 receptors which decreases the heart rate and myocardial contractility. Carnovas also work at the endothelium by stimulating endothelial nitric oxide (NO) synthase which increases Nitric Oxide release and decreases peripheral vascular resistance.
Two actions causing synergistic anti-hypertensive effect.

3. What is the indication of Carnovas®?
Carnovas is indicated for
Hypertension: Nebivolol is a β-adrenergic blocking agent indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.
Chronic Heart Failure (CHF): Treatment of stable mild and moderate chronic heart failure in addition to standard therapies in elderly patients 70 years old or above.

4. What are the dosage & administration of Carnovas®?
Hypertension: 5 mg daily; elderly initially 2.5 mg daily, increased if necessary to 5 mg daily. Adjunct in Heart Failure: Initially 1.25 mg once daily, then if tolerated increased at intervals of 1-2 weeks to 2.5 mg once daily, then to max. 10 mg once daily.
For severe renal impaired or moderate hepatic impaired patients, dose should begin with 2.5 mg once daily. Upward titration should be performed cautiously.

5. What are the contraindications of Carnovas®?
Contraindications
Carnovas® is contraindicated in the following conditions:

  • Severe bradycardia
  • Heart block greater than first degree
  • Patients with cardiogenic shock
  • Sick sinus syndrome (unless a permanent pacemaker is in place)
  • Patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh >B)
  • Hypersensitive to any component of this product

6. What are the adverse effects of Carnovas®?
Adverse Reactions
Most common adverse reactions are as follows:

  • Body as a Whole: asthenia
  • Gastrointestinal System Disorders: abdominal pain, diarrhea
  • Metabolic and Nutritional Disorders: hypercholesterolemia
  • Nervous System Disorders: paraesthesia, headache, dizziness
  • General Disorders: peripheral edema, fatigue

7. What would be the storage condition of Carnovas®?
Keep in a dry place, below 30°C. Protect from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
